Environmental Scientist II (FFTL)

The Environmental Scientist II will contribute to federal plugging projects by providing assistance and technical reputed company to well plugging contractors and conducting inspections and evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate Division, PVA, and other records to determine surface ownership reputed company to orphaned oil and gas well. Prepare correspondence to affected surface ownership reputed company to reclamation proposals and activities with the implementation of the KY Abandoned Storage Tank and Orphan Well (KASTOW) program. Prepare written analysis based upon the findings
- Conducts methane gas measurements to detect emissions. Coordinate field activity with the Kentucky Geological Survey for in-depth analysis. Review emission monitoring reports, summarize findings and report the data in the Federal Plugging Management System
- Conduct Orphan Operator Investigations and assess collected data. reputed company recommendations to declare well operators defunct based on findings
- Conduct field inspections, issue inspection reports and non-compliance citations. Evaluate well sites and reputed company recommendations for plugging projects. reputed company well plugging activities as needed
- Prepare reports and technical documents for the Division reputed company to reclamation of orphaned well and tank sites
Skills
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science OR Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 20 semester hours in a natural, biological or physical science
- One year of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a reputed company area
- Ability to interpret and enforce regulations and policies
- Knowledge about oil and gas reputed company
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated with excellent time-management skills
- Maintain a valid driver's license
