Business Development Manager

Smithers is looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to drive growth across our Medical and Pharmaceutical Testing Services division. In this high-impact role, you’ll play a pivotal part in expanding our presence across Europe – winning new business, owning key client relationships, and bringing in commercial wins across our medical device and pharmaceutical testing portfolios. You’ll be joining a small, collaborative commercial team with the backing of world-class scientists and subject matter experts, and the freedom to truly make your mark. What you’ll be doing: Leading business development efforts across Europe for Smithers MDT services Targeting and winning new clients in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and life sciences sectors Building and executing strategic account plans to secure long-term partnerships and maximise share of spend Developing a high-value, data-driven sales pipeline using our CRM and forecasting tools Supporting marketing campaigns and representing Smithers at industry events and client meetings Acting as the commercial face of Smithers MDT – both externally with clients and internally across our global teams What we’re looking for: 5+ years’ experience in technical B2B sales, business development, or consulting A proven track record of winning and growing business in life sciences, medical device or pharma sectors Experience with outsourced services, testing, or regulatory consultancy is a strong advantage Strong commercial instincts, excellent communication skills, and a natural ability to build trust with stakeholders Comfortable with regular international travel, both independently and as part of a global team A bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline (Master’s or MBA preferred) What we offer: The chance to join a trusted brand in science-led testing, with global clients and world-class facilities A highly flexible remote-first role, offering autonomy, influence, and visibility at a senior level A collaborative, people-first culture that balances commercial focus with ethical values Competitive salary and commission structure, with long-term progression opportunities Why Smithers?
