About arenaflex

arenaflex is at the forefront of a data revolution, building cutting-edge analytics platforms that transform raw information into actionable business intelligence. As a forward-thinking organization operating in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment, arenaflex generates massive volumes of operational and business data every single day. We believe that data is only as valuable as the insights it unlocks, and our mission is to empower every team across the enterprise to make confident, data-driven decisions.

Our Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence platform is the backbone of this mission. It enables stakeholders at every level to answer not only the foundational questions of "what," "when," and "how," but also to explore the powerful realm of "what if" through predictive modeling and scenario analysis. By joining arenaflex as a Senior Data Engineer and BI Platform Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the analytical infrastructure that powers strategic decision-making across the entire organization.

This is more than a job — it is an opportunity to leave a lasting imprint on how a modern, data-centric company operates, innovates, and scales.

Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious, and technically accomplished Senior Data Engineer to join our growing Data and Analytics team. In this full-time, remote role, you will be the architect and engineer behind our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and BI ecosystem, working with modern data tools, cloud-native technologies, and visualization platforms to deliver meaningful business outcomes.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in time-constrained environments, enjoys solving complex data challenges, and possesses the rare combination of deep technical expertise and exceptional communication skills. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders — from C-suite executives to front-line analysts — translating business requirements into scalable data solutions that drive real impact.

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of $26/hour, a flexible remote work arrangement, and the chance to work on high-visibility projects that influence the strategic direction of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Pipeline Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and Apache Airflow to ingest, transform, and load data from a variety of source systems into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into scalable, efficient data solutions within tight timelines and shifting priorities.
  • Build, optimize, and support the Enterprise Data Warehouse and BI platform, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Architect and implement DataMart and dimensional data models within relational database environments such as MySQL, SQL Server, and Vertica.
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end release management process, including versioning, deployment, and post-release support.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Develop visually compelling, insight-driven dashboards and reports using Tableau (or similar BI tools) for C-level executives and senior leadership audiences.
  • Build ad-hoc reports on demand to support exploratory data analysis and empower inquisitive business users with self-service analytics capabilities.
  • Provide automation solutions that reduce manual reporting effort and improve data delivery speed across the organization.
  • Ensure all BI outputs adhere to the highest standards of accuracy, design quality, and usability.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Foster collaborative relationships with key business sponsors, IT stakeholders, and analytics consumers to gather requirements and deliver solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Communicate complex technical and business topics effectively in a 360-degree fashion — through written documentation, verbal presentations, and visual materials tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Participate actively in design reviews, code walkthroughs, and peer feedback sessions to elevate the quality of the team's output.

Governance, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop, support, and recommend enhancements to applications in the areas of standards, policies, compliance, and quality assurance practices.
  • Stay continuously up to date on emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices in data engineering, cloud computing, and analytics.
  • Prioritize work dynamically based on the highest business impact, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term strategic initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience building data pipelines using Python and Apache Airflow in production environments.
  • Database Expertise: Proven experience designing DataMart, Data Warehouse, and database objects within relational database systems such as MySQL, SQL Server, and Vertica.
  • SQL Mastery: Strong proficiency in SQL and complex query writing, with the ability to optimize for performance and scalability.
  • BI & Visualization: Demonstrated experience creating high-quality dashboards and reports for executive-level audiences using Tableau or comparable BI platforms.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and organizational abilities, with a proven track record of delivering under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications & Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, or Azure Synapse.
  • Familiarity with data modeling techniques including Kimball, Inmon, and Data Vault methodologies.
  • Exposure to machine learning workflows, data science collaboration, or advanced analytics use cases.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth technology or innovation-driven organization.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, master data management (MDM), and data quality tooling.

Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Technical Depth: Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT patterns, and modern data stack architectures.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to data accuracy, schema design, and code quality.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving business requirements.
  • Ownership Mentality: Takes initiative, drives projects independently, and follows through on commitments.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Thrives in team environments and builds trust across functional boundaries.
  • Curiosity & Continuous Learning: Passionate about staying current with emerging data technologies and industry trends.
