Job Overview: Director Data engineering is a thought leader on technology solutions for data movement across and between organizations. This role focuses on facilitating data flow across the Enterprise through seamless integrations, in turn enabling insight generation and informed decision making. Additionally, the Director of Engineering owns the technical solutions and ensures they meet the current and future needs of Fotrea. They provide advice and recommendation on integration platforms and technology for the enterprise. This role works collaboratively with the technical teams building robust integration processes on the integration platforms. Summary of Responsibilities: Accountable to global IT leadership for data engineering solutions. Collaborate with IT and BU Leaders to understand and address data integration business needs. Provide analysis of technology and solution approaches and recommend solutions to improve the integration of data across Fortrea and with our clients. Promotes excellence within data engineering solutions and project teams ensuring solutions are fit for business purpose, scalable and cost effective. Guide and monitor work performance of global team supporting 65+ locations. Drive the implementation of standard methodologies, processes and tools that are scalable to support a global and complex structure across the Fortrea organization. Develop and maintain documentation, solution design documentation and project deliverables. Guide team members and business partners in the use of standardized methodology and tools. Establish and maintain effective communications with IT leadership, team members, stakeholders, and vendor providers. Communicate status to identified stakeholders. Qualifications (Minimum Required): In-depth knowledge of integration best practices and cloud technology. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of integration architecture and engineering best practices. Strong decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills. Experience with database systems and integration platforms. (e.g. Azure data factory, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure API management, Message bus, Kafka, data stream processing, etc.). Strong understanding of Real-time system integration, APIs and ETL processes. Experience (Minimum Required): 15+ years of extensive experience in data integration, integration platform management, or a similar leadership role. Extensive experience in Solution architecture and design, guiding technical solution delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

Include: Bachelor (or Master's) degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications in Data Engineering and Cloud Technology (e.g., Azure). Strong understanding of advanced data techniques, including data modeling and data mining. Experience in a Clinical Research Organization or healthcare-related industry. Ability to foster a collaborative and innovative developer culture.
