Position Overview

The Senior Big Data Analyst serves as a strategic internal consultant and subject matter expert responsible for guiding the end-to-end lifecycle of data management across multiple systems, handling varying volumes, varieties, and velocities of data. This critical role is responsible for acquiring data, conducting thorough data analysis to uncover patterns that inform data generation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization development initiatives.

This senior-level position requires a strategic problem solver who is obsessively passionate about the opportunity to collaborate with Network Operations, Ground Operations, and various operational workgroups throughout the organization. You will serve as a trusted advisor, bridging the gap between technical data capabilities and business objectives to deliver actionable insights that drive organizational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Complex Data Integration Initiatives: Oversee and deliver complex self-service data integration projects that aggregate data from disparate sources, making it readily available for business stakeholders including data scientists, analysts, and analytic end users.
• Drive Advanced Analytics Solutions: Lead cross-functional teams to apply advanced data integration methodologies and tools to big data environments, creating solutions that can be deployed across descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Drive meaningful interaction with business leaders throughout multiple and concurrent initiatives, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and business objectives.
• Solution Communication: Lead the communication and presentation of solutions and options to technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex data concepts into actionable business insights.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject leader for data assets and visualization tools, ensuring the continued effectiveness of data assets utilized by business stakeholders in self-service environments.
• Data Infrastructure Development: Support the continued development of the organization's data generation center and community, contributing to best practices and standards.
• Additional Responsibilities: May perform other related duties as directed by organizational leadership.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Advanced Problem-Solving: Comprehensive knowledge of both inductive and deductive reasoning and problem-solving approaches, with the ability to tackle complex, ambiguous challenges.
• Analytics Strategy: Advanced knowledge in evaluating appropriate data analytics and statistical approaches for solving business problems.
• Project Planning and Leadership: Experience in developing plans and leading moderately to extremely complex data integration initiatives, including serving as a practical leader in stakeholder meetings, solution definition and planning, deliverable definition and creation, and project timeline development.
• Programming Expertise: Skilled in one or more data programming languages and open-source systems.
• Integration Tools: Skilled in one or more data integration and business intelligence systems.
• Technical Architecture: Skilled in storage systems and architectures applicable to developing and retaining self-service data assets.
• Critical Thinking: Skilled in critical thinking and project management abilities.
• Communication Excellence: Ability to communicate effectively with strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences, including cross-functional leaders and stakeholders.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt well to various situations and change approaches as necessary to effectively and successfully meet objectives.
• Mentorship: Ability to mentor team members on data integration methodologies and tools, contributing to organizational knowledge building.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Computer or Data Sciences, Information Technology, or similar fields of study; or equivalent combined education and experience.

Experience Requirements

• Professional-Level Experience: Extensive and progressive professional experience in:
  • Data assessment, advanced analytics, data generation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or optimization project experience
  • Data pipeline, data generation and/or relevant programming
  • Visualization and presentation development and delivery
  • Solving ambiguous and complex issues through asystems thinking approach
• Preferred Technical Experience: Experience working with Python, SQL, ETL, Alteryx, Informatica, Ab Initio, AWS Glue, AWS S3, AWS SageMaker, and AWS Redshift.
• Preferred Industry Experience: Broad knowledge of the airline industry or similar complex operational environments.
