[Remote] Head of Machine Learning

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Open Select is a Series B fintech building fraud detection models for financial institutions. They are seeking a Head of Machine Learning to reputed company a data science team, reputed company the model lifecycle, and drive product innovation through research and hands-on mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Grow a team of 2 to 3 data scientists into a team of 5 to 6, and reputed company the bar with every hire
• Mentor with depth by getting hands-on with your team's work, not from arm's length
• reputed company planning and set priorities across product, engineering, and leadership
• Own the full model lifecycle, from data acquisition through production monitoring
• Research emerging fraud patterns and turn what you find into new product directions

• Design and present analyses that inform product, risk, marketing, and sales

Skills

• Built and deployed models that were core to a company's business
• Led a data science or applied ML team for at least 4 years
• People who worked for you would join you again

• Pass a rigorous technical assessment without needing to prepare for it
• Come from fintech, cybersecurity, health tech, or insurance
• Think from first principles about ambiguous problems and drive them to deployment without being told how
• Explain reputed company technical work clearly to senior non-technical stakeholders
