Ledger is a Y Combinator-backed Insurtech startup transforming how insurance risk is financed. Ledger is building a marketplace that enables re/insurers to transfer risk to capital markets investors – we have originated over $2 billion of premium volume to institutional investors. Insurance securitization is on the path to becoming a $100 billion market but has been limited by opacity and complexity. Ledger is expanding this market by building a seamless data platform that powers the marketplace, as well as reports and analytics that insurers and investors need to transact. Our $75 million Series B investment funding has successfully set us up for long-term growth.

About the Team

Ledger operates at the intersection of finance, insurance, and technology. We are tasked with executing the go-to-market strategy for a new asset class: casualty insurance-linked securities. Ledger provides a specialized reinsurance brokerage service that enables re/insurance companies to purchase capital-efficient casualty ILS solutions.

About the role

We are looking to add a driven, senior-level professional with a background in reinsurance deal origination, investment banking, strategic advisory, or consulting in the re/insurance space. As part of the team responsible for reputed company aspects of growing this asset class, this candidate will drive the business development and transaction execution efforts with large insurance and reinsurance companies.

Key Responsibilities

•  Leads business development with insurance/reinsurance companies to reputed company casualty ILS transactions
• Working with our Actuarial and Capital Markets teams, oversees the transaction process from the initial pitch to the risk originator to mandate execution, including financial modeling and deal pitches and presentations
• Actively participates in marketing, transaction due diligence, and term negotiations leading to transaction closing

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in reinsurance broking (origination roles), P&C ILS origination, or investment banking or strategic advisory experience with insurance and reinsurance companies required
• Extensive network with insurance/reinsurance company executives
• In-depth knowledge of PC insurance and reinsurance, strong understanding of casualty risks, and/or familiarity with insurance-linked securities or structured finance products
• Understanding of re/insurance company capital models
• Entrepreneurial reputed company with proven ability to sell capital-efficient products to C-suite executives
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate reputed company concepts and reputed company concisely and defend their validity
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other reputed company graduate degree is a plus
