What does the Pharmacy Tech do? This position is responsible for obtaining pre- pre-authorizations for self-administered medications dispensed in the retail setting and triages patient calls to physicians, coordinates patient in network pharmacy. Reviews insurance for medically integrated pharmacy dispense per house rule

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contact insurance carriers to verify patient's insurance eligibility, benefits and requirements.
• Request, track, follow up and obtain prior authorization status from Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist.
• Demonstrate and apply knowledge of medical terminology, high proficiency of general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations.
• Communicate any insurance changes or trends among team.
• Maintains a level of productivity suitable for the department.
• Clearly document reputed company communications and contacts with providers and personnel in standardized documentation requirements, including proper format.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Pharmacy Tech position will have the following background and experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum five to seven years of experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
• Oncology background preferred or extensive I.V. preparation experience.
• I.V. certification preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
• Completion of an ASHP accredited program or community college-based program recommended.
• Previous experience in a clinic setting preferred
• Extensive retail experience is strongly preferred.
